WORKSHOP UNPACKING INDIGENEITY IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

DOCTORATE – Adi Prasetidjo, lecturer in Anthropology Anthropology Conflict FIB Undip Prodi on Thursday (25/4) was present as a speaker in the workshop on “Unpacking Indigeneity in Southeast Asia” organized by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, University of Malaya. This activity is conducted Rusaslina Idrus from the University of Malaya, and Liana Chua from Brunel University London as part of the British Academy / Newton Mobility Grant No. NMGR1180433. In particular the workshop to discuss four major topics, namely: (1) Indigenous Positioning, Beyond the Nation-State; (2) Producing Indigeneity; (3) Negotiating Claims, hierarchies and Conflicts; (3) Indigenous Alliances and Activism, (4) Creativity and Flexibility.

Dr. Adi presented at the panel-2 session with the theme Producing Indigeneity. He presented his paper titled “Land and Indigeneity: The Trajectory of the Jungle People Ethnic Identity.” His paper was extracted from the results of years of research that has been carried out on the lives of the Jungle People. Dr. Adi also attended Dr. Dave Luminta from Indonesia University; he brought the material “Institutionalized Nativism”.

According to Prodi Chairman of Anthropology Dr. Amirudin; the presence of Dr. Adi in international fora further strengthen the institutional Prodi as the smallest unit that has the capacity to contribute ideas in international forums.
