March 28th-30th 2023, Dr. Adi Prasetijo, a lecturer from the Social Anthropology Undergraduate Program, Diponegoro University, was invited as a participant in a workshop on hunter-gatherer education held by the University of Tromsø, Arctic University of Norway (UIT), Tromsø, Norway. Tromsø itself is one of the cities in the arctic circle of the North Pole. Arctic University of Norway (UIT) has a Center of Sami Studies, which functions as a center for studies of the Sami ethnic group in the arctic area. The Sami tribe itself is a pastoral tribe that still survives today.

The Sami tribe itself, which became the theme of the workshop, succeeded in attracting approximately 80 invited participants from various researchers, practitioners, and research institutions from Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa. The workshop, chaired by Professor Jennifer Hays from the Working Group of Hunter-Gatherer Education Research and Advocacy Group, Anthropology Department, University of Tromsø (UIT), aims to find an educational program format for tribes that are still referred to as hunter-gatherers. These tribes have their own special culture so they need adjustments to national or global education programs.

Dr. Adi Prasetijo was invited as a participant in his capacity as an anthropologist who has consistently conducted research on hunter-gatherer groups in Indonesia, and his involvement in development programs conducted by KKI Warsi especially for the Orang Rimba in Sumatra, and The Punan of Borneo. The involvement of one of the lecturer in this international workshop shows the role of Social Anthropology Undergraduate Program to be known internationally.
