RESIK competition is a program implemented by Dietplastik Indonesia, a nonprofit organization to reduce plastic waste, in collaboration with the National Coordination Team for Plastic Waste Management (TKN PSL) and Embassy of Canada to Indonesia. RESIK in javanese means “clean” and stands for Redefining Solution on Plastic Pollution Towards Integrated Policy and Knowledge. The categories of the competition were infographic design, short film, and short video/Reels.

This year, Ishmah Hakini Wairagya (Social Anthropology 2020) and Maulisna Ainun Nisa (Law 2020) participated in the short film competition by highlighting “Budaya Sidang” that is being celebrated by final year students. But, microplastics were everywhere, even in the snack bouquet that Na and Chi would give to their friends.

Na feels angry because Chi continues to refute her ego, saying that nothing can be saved from a home that was destroyed by the occupants themselves with their own creation, namely plastic. In the process of making the snack bouquet, Na and Chi tried to change their mindset about the fight against plastic pollution which was too massive to fight alone.

The cast of “Hadiah Sidang” were Nabila as Na (Social Anthropology 2020), Abdullah Faqih as Chi (Computer Engineering 2020), and Siti Nurhayati as Raya (Food Technology 2020). This fiction film won 3rd place at the national level so the winners were invited to the awarding ceremony held on June 20, 2024 at The Westin Jakarta. RESIK was organized by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia (KLKH).

Hopefully, this movie can inspire other young people to be more concerned with the fact of plastic pollution in Indonesia. The movie “Hadiah Sidang” can be watched through the YouTube link https://bit.ly/FilmHadiahSidang
